  • What does WORC IT stand for?
    WORC IT is an acronym for Women of Race Climbing It Together


  • What is the mission of the WORC IT organization?
    To bring together women from various communities that are willing to take a stand against the violence and unite our voices to form alliances in order to build a stronger, healthier community, and a better future for our children.


  • What is the purpose of the organization and when was it founded?
    Women of Race Climbing It Together (WORC IT) was founded in 2004 with the hope to end violence in the Jane and Finch community. WORC IT is a grassroots corporation that supports the empowerment, leadership, and healthy development of racial women across Toronto. Grounded in women's realities and racial concerns, our network of professionals and resources address: violence prevention, community engagement, health promotion, anti-racism, and healthy sexuality.


  • How many people are in the organization?
    There are currently five people on the Board of Directors and 11 women currently serving on the WORC IT committee.


  • How do I join the WORC IT It organization?
    WORC IT is always looking for new members. You can join the WORC IT group by leaving your information on the website and someone will contact you or call the WORC IT line at 416 332-2599.


  • What are the hours of operation of the WORC IT office?
    You can drop in at the Grandravine Community Centre office (upstairs beside the dance studio) on Thursdays 5-9 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 am to 7 p.m.


  • What are the programs being offered by WORC IT?
    Currently the WORC IT organization offers the Black Women Leadership Conference each Spring (in May). It also has the Aspiring Young Women's Leader program. This year long program begins in July. WORC IT offers parenting classes every second Thursday of each month also located at the Grandravine Community Centre starting at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments are provided.


  • Who funds the WORC IT organization?
    WORC IT has partnered with Powercamp National from Montreal in the young women's project. Both Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario and Elementary Teachers of Toronto Status of Women made contributions for the conference.
